Become a Host Partner

EcoWorks is seeking project partners to host hands-on conservation projects that provide real-world training for our workforce development participants. By hosting a project, your organization or business directly supports the next generation of environmental stewards while improving your own landscape and community spaces.

Types of projects we can bring to you:

  • Invasive Plant Management

    • Protect your landscape and allow native species to thrive through targeted invasive species removal.

  • Tree Planting & Maintenance

    • Enhance biodiversity, add shade and beauty, and support local ecosystems with new tree plantings.

  • Stream Restoration Maintenance and Stormwater Management Facility Maintenance

    • Support healthy waterways and stormwater projects through debris management, tree planting maintenance, invasive plant removal, pruning, plant propagation and more.

  • Seed collection and Propagation​​

    • This activity involves the collection, processing, and harvesting of seeds from local ecotype native plants. Additionally, this activity is ideal for persons with disabilities and mobility challenges.​

  • New installations: Rain Gardens, Conservation Landscapes, Stream Enhancements

    • Improve stormwater management, reduce runoff, and beautify your property with nature-based solutions from pollinator gardens to beaver dam analogs and live stakes.

In addition, teams can assist with disaster preparedness and recovery support, which might include:

  • Providing post-disaster support by assisting with cleanup efforts, debris removal, repairs, and distribution of necessary supplies to affected communities.

  • Supporting disaster preparedness through education, tabling, and community outreach.

What Makes a Great Host Site?

  • The ability to host 5 or more participants

  • A project lasting 5 or more business days

  • Location on public property or an accessible community space

  • A safe, clean, and supportive environment with bathroom access

  • The tools, materials, and resources needed to support project success (beyond EcoWorks’ standard tool set)

What is the UpLift Program?

UpLift is a workforce development program developed by Howard EcoWorks in partnership with Maryland Department of Labor EARN and the Maryland Corps Service Year Option (Maryland Department of Service & Civic Innovation).  

Participants gain experience & career development in the green industry while serving communities in central Maryland.

Cost for a Team

A state cost share is required to support these training teams. Your organization benefits from reduced costs while directly supporting workforce development and education in the environmental field.

This means your investment goes further: you receive a high-quality conservation project while also creating valuable learning opportunities for participants preparing to enter the green workforce. If you have questions about costs, please fill out the form below to help us get a better understanding of your project, we will reach out with a quote. 

Estimated costs:

  • 1 crew with 5 participants (1 crew leader and 4 crew members) for 5 days: $2,770

  • 2 crews with 10 participants (2 crew leaders and 8 crew members) for 5 days: $3,460

  • Additional travel fees will be charged based on the project distance from our location: Holly Hills, Glenwood, MD.

Host Site Expectations

When you partner with EcoWorks as a host site, you’ll provide a meaningful conservation project for our teams while ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment. Below is a summary of key expectations:

  • Project Duration & Cost

    • Projects require a minimum 5-day commitment with a team of 5 or more.

  • Site Support

    • Host sites provide necessary tools (beyond EcoWorks’ standard tool set), materials, and resources for project success.

  • Supervision & Check-ins

    • A designated Host Site Supervisor is responsible for weekly check-ins with participants, verifying service hours, and attending a brief orientation/training.

  • Safe Environment

    • Host sites ensure a safe, clean workspace, provide bathroom access, and make every effort to protect participants’ health and safety.

  • Reporting & Communication

    • Host sites track and report participant hours, submit information for required reports, and notify EcoWorks immediately of any major incidents.
